Your day is designed to show you two very different sides of Champagne production.
Begin with a visit to a traditional Champagne house, where you will discover a more intimate approach to winemaking. Explore the cellars, learn about the production process and enjoy a guided Champagne tasting.
Continue through the vineyards to Hautvillers, one of the most historic villages of the Champagne region. Visit the Saint-Sindulphe church, where Dom Pierre Pérignon is buried. The Benedictine monk lived and worked at the nearby abbey for decades and played an important role in improving Champagne winemaking and blending techniques.
Hotel pickup is included from accommodations in central Paris. Guests should wait in the hotel lobby or directly in front of the hotel entrance at the confirmed pickup time. Our driver-guide will ask for the name of the lead traveler. The vehicle and driver may vary depending on availability, therefore exact vehicle details cannot be provided far in advance. If necessary, the traveler will be contacted by phone or WhatsApp before pickup.
Continue to Épernay, one of the most important towns in the Champagne region. Enjoy free time for lunch at a restaurant or café of your choice. After lunch, take some time to explore the town and stroll along the famous Avenue de Champagne, home to some of the world's best-known Champagne houses. Lunch is not included.
Hautvillers – Village of Dom Pérignon Travel through the vineyards to the historic hilltop village of Hautvillers. Take a short walk through the village and visit Saint-Sindulphe Church, the former abbey church where Dom Pierre Pérignon is buried. Learn about the Benedictine monk's work at Hautvillers Abbey and his contribution to the development and improvement of Champagne winemaking. Duration: approximately 30–45 minutes
