Our lunchtime food tour invites guests on a culinary experience around Ho Chi Minh City. It's a carefully curated food adventure, led by our team of professional food guides. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine, & the limitations of street food vendors means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour, so no-one is disappointed: ✘ Unsuitable for vegetarian diets sorry, as there would be 5-6 less tastings. ✖️ Unsuitable for severe allergies, halal and celiac diets, due to the risk of traces & cross-contamination. If you are feeling adventurous for a foodie journey, read on!
In the neighborhoods in District 3 of Hoi Chi Minh City, hungry locals gather to their favourite eateries from decades-old culinary powerhouses. We'll kick off our food adventure with a banh mi from a 40+ year-old joint, paying homage to the icon that was born from the Franco-inspired bakeries of old Saigon. In the backstreets, we'll discover a Michelin-rated kitchen serving stringy rice noodles with thit nuong grilled pork, and succulent beef wrapped in wild betel leaves. We'll gorge on 15+ tastings in all, from red banh cua crab soup to white shredded pork and coconut cream. We'll expand the palate with charcoal-grilled babylon snails and razor clams with morning glory, to sticky rice bananas and pumpkin custard. We don't want to spoil all the surprises, though we won't let you leave hungry.
Other ingredients to this culinary expedition include a dosage of history at a secret weapons bunker, and a photo-worthy stroll through the fascinating Nguyen Thien Thuat apartment complex, a bygone of the American solider era, and now a mecca for street food in the city. We'll toast the end of the tour with a lively coffee workshop, a nod to the innovative twists of the Vietnamese menu, discovering a new-found appreciation of this foodie capital of the South, alongside our friendly, food-obsessed guide.
