This private surf lesson at Costa Azul offers a more personalized way to experience one of the most iconic surf breaks in Los Cabos. Designed for beginners, intermediate surfers, and travelers seeking more flexible coaching, the experience adapts naturally to ocean conditions, wave selection, and individual comfort levels throughout the lesson.
Unlike larger shared classes, private lessons allow instructors to focus entirely on your pace, positioning, timing, and progression in the water. Depending on daily conditions, the lesson may include softer beginner-friendly waves or cleaner sections ideal for improving balance, confidence, and technique.
Costa Azul is known for warm water, consistent south swells, and a relaxed Baja surf atmosphere shaped by the Sea of Cortez. More than simply learning technique, the experience offers a deeper connection with the rhythm of the ocean and local surf culture.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
• Complimentary round-trip transportation is available from hotels in Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo, and the Tourist Corridor
• If your hotel is not listed, feel free to contact us so we can check transportation availability for your area
• Guests arriving with their own vehicle may meet directly at Costa Azul Beach (Zippers Parking Area), where the surfing lesson begins from the beach
• Hotels outside the main tourist area, including Hard Rock, Nobu, Rancho San Lucas, Diamante, or Four Seasons, are not included in complimentary transportation and will meet at Plaza Gali OXXO in Cabo San Lucas
• Cruise guests will also meet at Plaza Gali OXXO, approximately 3–5 minutes walking from the marina exit. Detailed walking directions will be provided with your confirmation message
• Cabo San Lucas cruise arrivals operate using tender boats, which may take additional time depending on port operations. We strongly recommend taking the earliest tender available or booking priority tender service whenever possible
• Guests who miss transportation or arrive late must arrive directly at Costa Azul Beach before the activity start time at their own expense
Guests arriving with their own vehicle usually meet at Plaza Gali OXXO in Cabo San Lucas. The activity starts at Costa Azul Beach in San José del Cabo. Please let us know in advance which location you prefer so we can provide your exact meeting time and instructions.
What to expect
Once in the water, the lesson naturally slows into the rhythm of the waves. Between sets, surfers float beside their boards watching pelicans cross the coastline while warm water and open ocean stretch across the horizon.
Without the structure of a larger group, there’s more time to repeat waves, adjust technique, and simply enjoy the feeling of being in the ocean. Small moments begin to define the experience — standing up for the first time, gliding across a clean wave, or sitting quietly outside while the sea moves around you.

- No locker facilities are available, but belongings may usually remain inside the transportation vehicle during the activity
- Not recommended for travelers with back problems, pregnancy, or serious heart conditions
- Participants under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed
- Medical refund requests require an official same-day doctor’s certificate and prior notification before activity start time
