Costa Azul is one of the most iconic surf areas in Los Cabos, known for warm water, consistent south swells, and a relaxed surf culture shaped by the Sea of Cortez. This experience is designed for beginners and intermediate surfers looking to learn in real Baja surf conditions with supportive local instructors.
Unlike artificial surf parks or overcrowded beginner beaches, Costa Azul offers authentic ocean conditions where lessons adapt naturally to the swell, wind, and experience level of the group. Depending on conditions, waves can range from soft beginner-friendly surf to cleaner sections ideal for improving balance, timing, and confidence.
More than simply taking a lesson, this experience introduces travelers to the surf lifestyle of Baja California Sur — ocean rhythm, beach atmosphere, early mornings, and the simple connection between people and the sea.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
• Complimentary round-trip transportation is available from hotels in Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo, and the Tourist Corridor
• If your hotel is not listed, feel free to contact us so we can check transportation availability for your area
• Guests arriving with their own vehicle may meet directly at Costa Azul Beach (Zippers Parking Area), where the surfing lesson begins from the beach
• Hotels outside the main tourist area, including Hard Rock, Nobu, Rancho San Lucas, Diamante, or Four Seasons, are not included in complimentary transportation and will meet at Plaza Gali OXXO in Cabo San Lucas
• Cruise guests will also meet at Plaza Gali OXXO, approximately 3–5 minutes walking from the marina exit. Detailed walking directions will be provided with your confirmation message
• Cabo San Lucas cruise arrivals operate using tender boats, which may take additional time depending on port operations. We strongly recommend taking the earliest tender available or booking priority tender service whenever possible
• Guests who miss transportation or arrive late must arrive directly at Costa Azul Beach before the activity start time at their own expense
Guests arriving with their own vehicle usually meet at Plaza Gali OXXO in Cabo San Lucas. The activity starts at Costa Azul Beach in San José del Cabo. Please let us know in advance which location you prefer so we can provide your exact meeting time and instructions.
What to expect
Once in the lineup, the experience becomes less about technique and more about rhythm. Between sets, surfers float beside their boards watching pelicans pass overhead while waiting for the next wave. Some waves are soft and forgiving, others push confidence a little further, but the atmosphere always stays relaxed and encouraging.
As the lesson continues, small moments begin to define the experience — standing up for the first time, feeling the wave push beneath the board, or simply sitting outside while the ocean moves around you.

- This experience requires favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to unsafe weather, ocean conditions, or operational restrictions, guests will be offered an alternative date or full refund
- No locker facilities are available, but belongings may usually remain inside the transportation vehicle during the activity
- Not recommended for travelers with back problems, pregnancy, or serious heart conditions
- Participants under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed
- Medical refund requests require an official same-day doctor’s certificate and prior notification before activity start time
