    Lourdes

    Your private driver meets you at Tarbes-Lourdes airport or Lourdes station, whatever time your flight or train arrives, and takes you to your 4-star hotel within walking distance of the Sanctuary. Lourdes is where the Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette Soubirous 18 times at the Grotto of Massabielle between 11 February and 16 July 1858. After dinner at the hotel, walk down to the Sanctuary for the Marian Torchlight Procession, when thousands of pilgrims carry candles and pray the Rosary in many languages (held nightly from April to October).

    Massabielle Grotto

    Over the years, millions of the faithful have flocked to the small village of Lourdes nestled at the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains in Southwestern France where it is said the sick can be healed miraculously. In 1858, the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared eighteen times to a local girl, Bernadette. We will visit the famous Grotto of Massabielle where Bernadette experienced her visions and where the healing spring flows. We will visit the Rosary, St. Pius X, and Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Basilicas, as well as the healing baths, the candle trolleys, Bernadette's home, the jail she and her family lived in, among other Bernadette-related sites.
