The Independence Pub Crawl combines Boston’s revolutionary history with four iconic and unique pubs along the Freedom Trail. An expert local guide will share the little-known and hilarious stories of colonial Boston and the American Revolution that the left out of 8th grade history class, all while you enjoy the company of fellow travelers from around the world
The tour lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes and begins at the Sam Adams statue outside Faneuil Hall. Walking is limited to a couple of blocks, allowing guests of all physical capabilities to enjoy the tour. Drinks are not included in the ticket price and are available for purchase separately at each pub, so you can choose exactly what you would like to enjoy.

Meeting and pickup
Your guide will be at the Sam Adams Statue on the Congress Street side of Faneuil Hall. The 20 foot tall statue features Sam Adams on a pedestal with his arms crossed. Your guide will be holding a sign reading "Boston Crawling." Please arrive at least 5 minutes early with an ID.

Guests will meet their guide at the Samuel Adams statue outside historic Faneuil Hall. The experience begins with little-known facts and surprising stories about Samuel Adams the man, not just the beer bearing his name. From there, the group heads to historic and unique bars along the Freedom Trail to uncover more of Boston’s hidden history.

2The Freedom Trail
The tour crawls along the portion of the famous Freedom Trail in the Faneuil Hall area. Guests will visit four iconic and unique bars while their guide shares the hidden history of Boston and the American Revolution. The bars are located closed together so that guests of all physical capabilities can enjoy the tour.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace (Pass by)
Guests will meet their tour guide outside Faneuil Hall, a National Historic Landmark. Their guide will reveal the hidden history behind this famous Boston landmark and its role as a gathering place for commerce, debate, and revolution. They’ll learn why the building earned the nickname “the Cradle of Liberty.” When timing and building access allow, the group may also walk through Faneuil Hall.

Old State House (Pass by)
During the opening segment of the tour, the guide will point out the Old State House, the dramatic backdrop to the Boston Massacre. Guests will hear little-known stories about the building and the massacre, including the tale of a secret time capsule hidden inside the golden lion perched on its roof. The group views the landmark from nearby and does not enter the building.

Boston City Hall (Pass by)
Guests will see Boston City Hall from the outside during the tour’s opening introduction. Their guide will share surprising stories about the building, its unmistakable design, and the history of the surrounding area.

Quincy Market (Pass by)
Guests will visit Quincy Market, the grand granite marketplace built beside Faneuil Hall in the 1820s. After hearing the hidden history behind this famous Boston landmark, the group will head inside to Ned Devine’s Irish Pub, one of the tour’s four bar stops. Guests can purchase a drink, relax with the group, and enjoy more little-known stories from Boston’s past.

The Boston Stone (Pass by)
Guests will stop at the Boston Stone, an easy-to-miss landmark hidden in an alleyway narrow Marshall Street. Their guide will share the hidden history behind this curious relic industry and the legend that has surrounded it for centuries.

Guests will walk along Marshall Street, a narrow cobblestone lane within one of Boston’s oldest surviving street networks. Its tight layout and historic buildings offer a glimpse of the city before wide modern roads reshaped downtown. The group will stop here beside the Boston Stone while their guide shares the hidden history of this easy-to-miss corner of Boston.
