What to expect

Did you know Cologne was a former Roman colony for 500 years? And yet, the Romans were not the only ones who imparted their culinary skills. Did you know the famous “Pied Piper” legend came from a German town and resulted in the creation of an 18th-century dish that translates literally to “rat tails”? All these curiosities and more await you as the event unfolds!

The host’s menu shifts with the seasons, and is customised to suit your dietary preferences. She will get in touch with you a few days before your event to plan the meal.

You will make three dishes from scratch: kartoffelkloße (German potato dumplings) or laugenknödel, (pretzel dumpling), an accompaniment and not forgetting dessert to end on a sweet note!

For the market tour add-on, your host offers a neighbourhood farmers' market tour. Expect to add an additional 1-1.5 hours to the event as she takes you through the stands, meet and greet some of the friendly farmers and shop for your meal!
