What to expect
Cruise across the mirror-like waters of Lake Mapourika a calm lake surrounded by Southern Alps peaks and untouched rainforest within the Franz Josef Glacier valley. Step ashore for a guided walk along our exclusive trail in the predator-free Okarito Kiwi Sanctuary. Wander beneath towering 1,200-year-old kahikatea and rimu trees while your skipper shares local stories and insights into kiwi conservation. Listen for native birds and watch for rare kōtuku along the shoreline. This peaceful tour combines a scenic boat cruise with a unique rainforest experience.
Please note: The short 500 meter walk follows a natural track with some uneven sections. Walking poles and guide support are provided. Contact us if you are unsure whether the walk is suitable for you.
