We start at the Historic City Market, beneath the 1840s Market Hall, once a cornerstone of local trade and resilience. From there we pass St. Philip's Church, the Dock Street Theatre (America's first playhouse), and the notorious Pirate House, before slipping into shaded Philadelphia Alley, tied to whispered 19th-century duels. Your guide shares how fires, bombardments, and shifting centuries shaped the district's architecture.
As afternoon light falls across secret courtyard gardens, take in pastel facades, wrought-iron gates, and quiet piazza balconies. The walk closes with a look at how this storied quarter's rhythm, architecture, and living history still linger in every corner of Charleston today.
