Sail Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake on a half day boat tour of Tonle Sap's floating villages, seeing homes, schools and markets adapted to life on the water.
Tonle Sap, often compared to an inland sea for its sheer size, shrinks by more than half during the dry season, a seasonal shift that has shaped how millions of Cambodians live along its shores.
Board a local boat for a sailing trip across the lake to a floating fishing village, passing photo-worthy scenery en route. From the water, see a floating restaurant, school and police station, along with grocery cultivation adapted to life afloat. Watch fishermen at work breeding fish in their tanks and using techniques passed down through generations to prepare their catch.
The approximately 3 hour tour can run as a morning or afternoon excursion, returning you to Siem Reap either before lunch or at the end of the afternoon.
A compact half day glimpse into one of Cambodia's most distinctive ways of life.
We pick up from only hotels inside Siem Reap, Supplements apply for customers who want to join this excursion outside one of these regions.
Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Siem Reap for a sailing adventure over the Tonle Sap Lake. The largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, it is the lifeblood of the Cambodian fishing industry. With some photo stops along the way from Siem Reap to the lake, it is also home of the floating fishing village, where the tourists take local fishing boats to see many common things floating around: from your floating restaurant, school, police station, to even floating grocery cultivation. The daily activity of the fishermen living in and on their boats, living day in and day out from fishing, also gives the opportunity to observe how they breed the fish in their fish tank and the techniques they use to prepare the fish. We return back from the lake to your hotel either just before lunch time or, when booked as an afternoon excursion, at the end of the afternoon. The tour itself will take approximately 3 hours.
