This is not just a horseback ride followed by lunch. It’s a full day immersed in mountain life at a family-run ranch in the Andes.

You’ll ride natural mountain trails with local horsemen, cross clear creeks, and stop in the mountains for a traditional Argentine asado cooked over an open fire.

What makes the experience special is its small, personal setting. You’ll spend the day with Daniel’s family and local team, sharing food, stories, horses, and traditions in the place where they are part of everyday life.

Rather than a staged gaucho show or a large tourist ranch, this is a rustic and genuine experience designed to bring you closer to the people, landscapes, and culture of the Argentine Andes.

What to expect

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation in Mendoza and travel with your bilingual guide into the Andes to Rancho Don Daniel, a family-run mountain ranch.

On arrival, enjoy homemade tortas fritas and a hot drink while the horses are prepared. Your horse will be selected according to your size and riding experience, and the local team will help you get comfortable before setting off.

The ride lasts around 3 hours, usually divided into two sections. Follow mountain trails through open valleys, cross clear creeks, and enjoy the Andes at a calm pace.

During the ride, stop in the mountains for a traditional Argentine asado cooked over an open fire, accompanied by a local-style picada, homemade bread, and Mendoza wine.

Throughout the day, you’ll spend time with Daniel’s family and local horsemen, learning about their connection with horses, the land, and mountain life.

After lunch, continue riding through the mountains before returning to the ranch. At the end of the day, your guide will drive you back to Mendoza.

This full-day experience combines horseback riding, gaucho culture, traditional food, and time at a family-run ranch away from the busiest tourist areas.
