This Xunantunich, cave tubing, and ziplining tour brings together three defining landscapes of western and central Belize in one meaningful progression. Cross the Mopan River on the hand-cranked ferry and enter Xunantunich, where plazas, palaces, carved friezes, and El Castillo reveal the scale and sophistication of an ancient Maya city. Your guide explains rulership, ceremony, astronomy, and regional connections so the ruins become more than impressive stonework. Continue to Nohoch Che’en near Frank’s Eddy, where the Cave Branch River flows through limestone chambers beneath the rainforest. After floating underground by headlamp, change viewpoints once again on a guided zipline course above the forest floor. The uniqueness comes from how the day moves through history and landscape: from a Maya city on a limestone ridge, to a river beneath the earth, to the living canopy overhead. Once at the entrance of the cave system, it’s time for your cave tubing adventure through the ancient Maya underworld. Inside, you’ll see intricate crystalline formations that line the cave with a majestic rise and fall of stalagmites and stalactites that add to the serene richness and grandiose of Xibalba as it’s known.
