Chimaek, fried chicken and beer, is close to a national pastime in Korea, and this walk hits three spots with three completely different personalities. First stop is a retro '90s-style pub serving crispy fried chicken with ice-cold beer, simple and nostalgic. Second is a country-style tavern with smoky barbecued chicken sizzling on a hot plate alongside classic sides. Third is a quirky WWII-themed bar serving spicy boneless chicken smothered in melted cheese, beers poured into military canteen cups under some genuinely strange decor.

Mangwon Market has been going through a renaissance. Younger people have come in and opened interesting restaurants, pubs, and food stands next to the older proprietors. It feels like a revived traditional market that hasn't lost its character.
