FFWBOI The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Northeastern Ada County in southwestern Idaho... * Until 1045 PM MDT. * At 910 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 4 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the area will result in debris flows moving through the Claremont and Valley burn scars. The debris flows can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Eastern Boise and Aldape Summit.
Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of creeks, roads and normally dry washes is likely. The heavy rains will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas.
* WHAT...Temperatures up to 107 expected, hottest Friday afternoon. * WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon. * WHEN...Until 9 PM MDT /8 PM PDT/ Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses, especially for the young, elderly, and animals.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
