* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Addison, Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Franklin, Lamoille, Orange, Orleans, and Washington Counties in Vermont. * WHEN...Through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Heavy rainfall of 1 to 2 inches, locally up to 3 inches, in a 1 to 3 hour timeframe. This may cause flash flooding, especially if rain falls over areas that recently received heavy rainfall. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
The Flood Watch has been cancelled and is no longer in effect.
* WHAT...South swell from 190 degrees with a period of 14 to 16 seconds will generate surf of 3 to 6 feet with sets up to 7 feet along south-facing beaches along with high rip current risk. San Diego County surf will be slightly lower, but hazardous swimming conditions still exists due to high rip current and longshore current risks. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...Through Friday evening. * IMPACTS...Hazardous swimming conditions with high rip current and longshore current risk. If you become caught in a rip current, yell for help. Remain calm and do not exhaust yourself and stay afloat while waiting for help. If you have to swim out of a rip current, SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly.
Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
* WHAT...For the Beach Hazards Statement, dangerous rip currents and breaking waves due to elevated surf. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor, but impactful coastal flooding expected. * WHERE...Malibu Coast. * WHEN...For the Beach Hazards Statement, through late Wednesday night. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 6 PM this evening to 2 AM PDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of sea water is likely, around the time of high tide, over vulnerable low-lying coastal areas such as parking lots, beaches, and walkways. Significant damage to roads or structures is NOT expected. There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Coastal flooding concerns will peak Sunday and Monday from 6 PM to 2 AM each day due to high astronomical tides of 7.5 ft to 7.9 ft.
Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Do NOT drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.
