The Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of the most important Shinto sites in Kyoto and is dedicated to Inari, the god of rice. Famous for the thousands of tori gates leading from it to Mt. Inari, it predates the Japanese capital's move to Kyoto.
Originally developed in the late 1500s, this charming canal town prospered during the Edo Period as a business hub, due to its location along two of the most important trade routes in Japan.
Designed by architect Terunobu Fujimori, this striking eco-park includes buildings made to blend in with the landscape in unique ways. Includes a green-roof cafe famous for its baumkuchen.
