    Prison Island, just a short boat ride from Stone Town, is home to Aldabra tortoises that were brought from Seychelles in 1919. Only 30 minutes away, it’s an ideal place for snorkeling and sunbathing. The island was originally a quarantine station before the British constructed a prison for Stone Town in the 1890s, though the prison was never used. Today, visitors can explore the island’s historic ruins and take in its stunning natural beauty.
