Pompeii (/pɒmˈpeɪi/) was an ancient Roman city near modern Naples in the Campania region of Italy, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area (e.g. at Boscoreale, Stabiae), was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Many of the inhabitants were also buried before they could escape. It is a 3 hours drive from Rome and 2 hours in Pompeii ruins.
Positano is the best-known town on the Amalfi Coast, its postcard scenery, with the pyramid of colored houses that descends towards the sea, is known all over the world. A seductive place like the sirens who, according to legend, lived on the rocks of Li Galli, the small islands facing Positano. 1 hour drive from Pompeii to Positano and 2 hours in Positano
