Drive offers Spectacular Mountains views of Himalaya & Karakoram mountain range. When arrive in Skardu, Check in to the Hotel, res of the day will be spent visiting the local Bazars, historical forts, scenic lakes or visiting ancient rock inscriptions, one of which is of 8th century Manthal Lord Buddha Rock that shows traces of Buddhist monks and pilgrims who had influence in the area before Islam.
In the morning we will have to do our Briefing at the Ministry of tourism Pakistan office. After the briefing we will have some free time to meet our Porters, Chef, High Altitude Porter and Drivers. Depending on how much time we have left, you might want to visit the remains of Kharpocho Fort (builded early 1700), which overlooks the town and has a great view of the Indus River. If you are into photography then this is a perfect location to take photos of Skaradu Town at sunrise or sunset. (we can arrange this for you). You can also walk to a small village, called Organic village, which grows all its crops organically. The afternoon is free to explore.
Today we continue our journey by jeep on a spectacular road beside the River Indus to the village of Hushe. We make a reasonably early start from Skardu, crossing the Indus and Shyok River to begin an exciting 4-hour jeep ride up to Hushe, through Khapulu and a number of small and picturesque villages in the lower Hushe Valley. En route we must cross a number of ‘nullahs’ or small tributary valleys. These nullahs are fed by meltwaters from the glaciers high above the valley and can become impassable by the afternoon as the hot sun goes to work. Our early start from Skardu means that we should not have any problems in this respect. Hushe is the highest village in the area at 3050 metres and we set up our camp in a field just below the village with the huge bulk of Masherbrum (7821m) dominating the valley to the north.
After organising all the equipment and supplies our porters load up for the journey ahead towards our next camp Brum Bramah. Trekking up above the village on a rocky path through very impressive scenery. Immediately above the village is a farmed area with some bare grazing, fields of corn and turnips, flowering shrubs such as oleander and a few sparse trees. Towering rocky peaks line both sides of the valley. The valley opens out and splits.
Today we will continue our Trek towards the Base camp through the lush green Hushe Valley. We will pass through two Beautiful lakes on the way. It will be a light walk which can take up to 3-4 Hours then you are in front of this magnificent Mount Gasherbrum.
Non guided climb will start from today onwards. During the climbing period our staff will be at base camp to help and assist you. Our excellent chef will make the most nutritious food which you will need throughout the Climbing session. We believe that food plays a vital role in climbing trips.
After packing our gears and cleaning the campsite we start descending towards Brum Bramah.
We have an early start ahead of a short and enjoyable final walk back to Hushe, where we are welcomed once again by villagers young and old. This walk to Hushe can be done in about three hours and on completion we can celebrate our success with the porters and hand out their tips as a token of our appreciation for their hard work throughout the trip. We also often give any spare kit that we no longer wish by way of thanks
Time to say Good Bye to our Porters and other staff today. most of our porter are from Hushe village so they will stay here. Our jeeps will be waiting for us so we will set off on the drive down the valley to Khaplu. From Khaplu our journey becomes considerably smoother and much faster as we now drive on the tarmac road first following the Shyock to a confluence with the Indus, then along this major river back to Skardu. Arriving in the Balti capital, we check into our hotel and enjoy our first hot shower in weeks. Tonight we will enjoy the comfort of a real bed.
If the weather is clear then will take the flight to Islamabad. Skardu airport is a 40 minute drive from the hotel along a good road lined with poplar trees. Boarding our plane we have an exciting flight out of the valley, once again passing by Nanga Parbat before turning south for Islamabad. Arriving in the Pakistani capital after a period in the mountains is always a strange experience and it takes a little time to get used to the hustle and bustle and especially the traffic. Our private bus will be waiting at the airport to transfer us to the group hotel and once we have settled in it will be time to take lunch (unless we have experienced unusual flight delays). After lunch the rest of the day is free for independent sightseeing or to relax at the hotel. Your Guide will advise you on the possibilities for sightseeing. Shopping for hand-made Iranian & Afghan rugs is a usually popular option. This evening we come together again for a celebratory meal at the hotel or in a local restaurant. In Case of Flight cancellation we will drive down the Karakoram Highway. We will arrive in Chillas late afternoon.
If driving down the Karakoram Highway we will arrive to Islamabad late afternoon. The drive down the Indus River to Islamabad takes two days so this is an important contingency day to allow for this. We have the option to Stay in Chillas for the night.
