Experience the best of the Kruger National Park in just 3 days. While you absorb the unspoiled wilderness, your stay in Kruger is maximized by professional guides who lead morning and evening game drives. These drives provide ample opportunity to spot lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo also known as big five game. You also have the option to forgo both morning and afternoon game drives on Day 2 and embark, instead, on the panorama route which includes stops at superb sights like Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Lisbon Waterfalls and God’s Window. The tour accommodation will depend on the availability at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp. Allocations are made with these camps, but if all slots have been filled, availability will be checked and booked elsewhere in the park.
You depart from Johannesburg between 06:30 – 08:30 to allow for various collection points. The drive takes you through the wide open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. You stop for lunch en-route (own expense) and reach the Kruger National Park and camp in the afternoon.
After settling into your accommodations, you go out on your first game drive which is a SAN PARKS sunset drive. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal animals that are more active at night and the Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times. Note that these drives take place in one of the Kruger Park’s vehicles with a Park’s ranger. This is not a private game drive and there may be other guests on this drive.
Safaris are all about early mornings, getting out there and seeing animals! After an early wake-up call (the time varies according to the seasons and park gate opening times) you have tea or coffee & rusks (dried biscuits to be dunked in your drink!) You then set off on the morning safari which will take approximately 3-4 hours. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of the park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings!
In The Afternoon, you set off on the afternoon game drive. All game drives are conducted in specially adapted 4×4 open game drive vehicles to allow guests the best possible vantage point.
The sun rises over your final day in the Park and you have one last chance to find the animals that have eluded you thus far. After breakfast, you depart to Johannesburg. The drive back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night.
