Award winning photographers, Chris and Bonnie Allen escort you to beautiful locations in the Blue Ridge mountain region during the height of Autumn color season; and provide personalized instruction to help you make better photos. This photo class will help you slow down, connect more deeply with the natural world and learn how to build more feeling and impact into your photos.

Instruction includes basic to advanced camera technique, as well as best practices in composition, the use of light for dramatic effect, and slow shutter speeds for more magical images.

In addition to a personally rewarding and fun experience, you will come away with a host of new photography skills to advance the enjoyment of your photography passion both for yourself and others.

What's Included

We have an extra tripod or two available for those who don't have their own.
Guests are responsible for bringing their own water & snacks sufficient for the activity duration.

Ingles Markets

Park and meet at the right front entrance to the Ingles store. You may wish to use the restrooms inside before we begin the tour. You will drive your own vehicle and follow along behind us to the various locations. Be sure to have a full tank of gas.

What to expect

We will escort you to some of the best Blue Ridge mountain vistas and waterfalls; and coach you on how to make better photos of the Autumn colors. Possibilities include mountain streams & waterfalls, forest preserves, and expansive vistas in the Blue Ridge mountains. You will learn how to create stunning photos of vistas and intimate scenes that capture the mood and spirit of the plants, mountain streams and their habitat decked out in the changing colors of the Autumn season.

Personalized instructions include best aperture, shutter speed and focus for sharp and/or moody images, eliminating distractions to guide the viewer's eye and leveraging shapes and patterns for better composition.

It also includes a central point of interest in wide angle scenes. Finding and framing the "hero" and "supporting characters" in the images and long exposure settings to create less or more texture in flowing water.
