Since the 5th century, burials of people inside the church have been prohibited. Noravank is one of the gems of medieval Armenian architecture. The church has a distinctive two-story structure. It has a unique second floor, with a narrow staircase, which symbolizes the union of the earthly and the divine.

Sevanavank is a monastery named after its location on the top of the Sevan Peninsula at the source of the Hrazdan River.
