Our guide will explain how Orthodox tradition and Christian learning was used as a way to fight and preserve national identity and integrity. These monasteries and churches are results of that struggle, and they are Montenegro’s most important Orthodox heritage, and the highlight of this tour. You will also visit the Old royal capital, enjoy the panoramic views of different regions and learn about the Montenegrin way of life.
This price includes pick up from following cities: Podgorica, Kotor, Tivat, Cetinje, Budva, Kolasin, Lake Skadar region, and Niksic. Other cities are up to request.
When we arrive at Cetinje we will take a leisurely stroll through the city’s historical paths. We will make a short stop at the Cetinje Monastery and its church, followed by a visit to the Cipuri church. We will then take a walk through the main pedestrian street. Cetinje is a city museum with a lot of interesting stories about the hard but proud life of medieval Montenegro
After arriving at Podgorica, we will first visit the Dajbabe Monastery that is very characteristic because of its shape. We will enter the monastery cave that is shaped like a cross and hear the interesting legends of the place, and see its old fresco painted walls.
We will first visit the Lower monastery of Saint Trinity and then we will proceed to the Upper Monastery to see the remains of ‘Saint Basil’, the most respected Saint in our tradition and Montenegrin Orthodox Christianity. Here we will spend some time to take photos and hear the fascinating stories about this legendary holy place.
We will visit female Zdrebaonik Monastery with a church built in the 19th Century, dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel. This church is positioned in the beautiful plain of Bjelopavlici and it represents one of the best organized Monasteries in the region.
