A1. Juyongguan Great Wall is the number one pass in China which is easy to access the actual Wall; it takes only 1 minute from the parkling lot to get on the Wall. It is most suitable for people who don't want to speed much energy in getting on the Wall. Juyongguan was built in a gap between two mountain peaks with only one road leading to Beijing, which determined its military significance in ancient times through many dynasties.
A2. Badaling Great Wall is one of the first sections of Great Wall in China that have been restored and opened to public. Also it is the most famous and popular section of Wall with Chinese. It could be crowded on weekends and holidays but it is the most typical Ming Great Wall in Beijing. There is an 18 kilometers long valley called “Guangou” from south to north in Changping district Beijing, with 4 passes along the valley named “Nankou, Juyongguan, Shangguan and Badaling”. They were of great strategic importance in defending Beijing.
A3. Mutianyu Great Wall is a beautiful section of the Wall in Huairou district of Beijing. As one of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall, the Mutianyu Great Wall used to serve as the northern barrier, defending the capital and Ming tombs. It is slightly less touristy and crowded than Badaling with cable car, toboggan and chairlift services.
A4. Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall has historically been the northern gate of ancient Beijing City and also the important entrance to Ming Tombs. Later it was divided into three parts due to the construction of a dam in 1974, because the lower parts of Wall were submerged by water. It is a beautiful and peaful palce espeically between Apr. - Oct. with boats available to rent and it is more poluar with local people for outing.
B1. Tian’anmen Square is the largest city-center square in the world which witnessed hundreds' years of Chiense history. You will see some of the iconic builings in China such as Front Gate, Great Hall of the People, Chairman Mao's Mausoleum and more.
B2. Forbidden City is one of the must-sees in Beijing. As the largest imperial palace in the world, it used to be the place where the Ming and Qing Emperors resided for over 500 years. You will expore the Emperor's working place and living quarter which were off-limits to commoners for centuries.
B3. Jingshan Park is the best place to have a panoramic view of the Forbidden City, downtown Beijing and old part of Beijing. Once you reach the top of the man-made hill, your guide will offer detailed information on the story behind it.
B4. Wangfujing Street is the No. 1 walking street in China. It is about 1,600 meters long with many clothing outlets, souvenir shops, fast food restaurants, century old establishments and two fancy shopping malls.
B5. Houhai is one of the few old and original parts of Beijing with hundreds years of history. It used to be the living quarter for high ranking officials even princes in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Now it is one of the two famous pub streets in Beijing.
B6. Dashilar is the oldest shopping street in Beijing with many century old stores. Now it has been restored with buildings similar to those during Qing dynasty. You will also explore the side streets to see the local life. Also there is a snack street selling some popular local food.
B7. National Center for the Performing Arts is also known as the National Grand Theatre. It is the most modern theater in China and you will see the three main theaters under a man-made lake for special acoustic effect.
B8. Beijing City-Planning Hall is the best place to know the history of Beijing, which showcases the great achievements of urban planning and future development. You will watch a 4D movie to get a better understanding of Beijing's past, presence and future. Also, there are many exhibitions with different themes and a giant map of Beiing.
B9. Liulichang Culture Street is a street full of shops selling antiques and curios, with a series of traditional Chinese stone houses. In the old days, it was the place for making glazed tiles of the Forbidden City. You will watch some of the artisians doing their artwork like writing, carving, snuff bottle inside painting and more.
B10. Beijing Capital Museum is one of the biggest and most modern art museums in China; you will watch a 12 minutes documentary revealing how Beijing was chosen as the capital during the Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Also, you will see some exhibitions with different themes like paingting, calligraphy, Stationaries, Jade, Buddha Statues and more.
B11. Dingling Tomb is the only imperial tomb that has been officially excavated by the Chinese goverment. It is the tomb for the most notorious Ming Emperor Wanli who is generally regarded as the main reason of downfall of Ming. You will see the 27 meters deep underground palace and artifacts unearthed from Dingling tomb.
B12. Formal name should be the Sacred Way of Ming Tombs. It is a road with 36 beautifully carved human and animal figures served as guardians for the emperor’s afterlife. Also, it represents the journey from the secular world to the spiritual world and leads to the 13 Ming tombs. The total length of the Sacred Way is 7 kilometers and you will walk the 1 kilometer part with Stone Animals and some other iconic buildings.
C1. Temple of Heaven is the place where the Ming and Qing emperors performed their ritual ceremonies. Besides the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest, Echo Wall and Circular Mould of Altar which are the main buildings in the Temple of Heaven; you will also watch the local people doing excerise, playing shuttlelock and dancing in the park.
C2. Also called Bairong World Trade Mall, it is the largest whole sale market in northern China. With a business floor space of 400,000 square meters and over 100,000 kinds of products, it is one of the most popular places for the locals to do shopping.
C3. After the 2008 Olympic Games, the structures at the Beijing Olympic Park have become just as representative of Beijing as the Forbidden City or the Great Wall. You will walk around and have an exterior look of the Water Cube, Bird’s Nest and some other stadiums.
C4. Drum & Bell Towers are two iconic buildings in the old part of Beijing. They are also the north end of the 8 kilometers long south-north central axis of Beijing. You will get on the Drum Tower to have a Panoramic view of the old Beijing Hutong neighborhood with century years' history. Also, inside the Drum Tower, there is a laser light show explaining the significance of the central axis of Beijing.
C5. Also known as the Confucius Temple & Imperial Academy, they are two places connected together. One is the second largest Confucian Temple in China used by imperial officials to pay their respects to Confucius; the other one is the highest institute of learning in China's traditional educational system.
C6. Lama Temple is the largest lamasery in Beijing where two famous Qing emperors came from. You will see some buildings with the mixture of Han and Tibetan style and the largest wooden Buddha statue in China. It is a good place to know something about Tibetan Buddhism which is also called lamaism in China.
C7. Yandaixie Street is one of the oldest streets in Beijing which is named after a store selling giant smoking pipes in the Qing dyansty. Today it is a popular palce with locals and tourists full of shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars, in reconstructed Ming and Qing dynasty era buildings.
C8. Also known as Panjiayuan Ghost Market, it is the largest, cheapest and most popular antique market in Asia. It offers a huge assortment of antiques and oddities, best place to find cheap souvenirs on weekends.
C9. Hongqiao Pearl Market is a major knock-off market in Beijing. It is also a plce to make serious purchase of quality pearl or jade in some boutique stores on the higher floor. There is a platform on the 5th floor, where you could overlook the Temple of Heaven.
C10. Nanluoguxiang is one of the oldest Hutongs in Beijing with a history of over 740 years. Now it s a popular shopping place and snack street in Beijing, especially with youngsters. On either side of the street, it is the real life of local people similar to those hundreds of years ago.
C11. 798 Art District is an art zone built based on an eletronic factory in 1950's. Nowadays, it is a popular place for travelers and locals to walk around with many art galleries, exhibitions, shops and cafes.
C12. Summer Palace is the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in China which served as the summer retreat for the Qing emperor. You will see some of the iconic builds like Marble Boat, Kunming Lake, Tower of Buddhist Incense and more.
