Your adventure will begin by visiting an outdoor museum of the ancient and impressive field trains. The Train Cemetery in Uyuni is a major tourist attraction. It is a desolate place full of abandoned railway machinery. When we see that pantheon of twisted iron and disused locomotives, we think of the glorious past they had at the beginning of the 20th century. The rise of silver mining demanded the construction of railways and Uyuni was the place in Bolivia where the whistle of a train was heard for the first time. You will have a visit with photo stops.
Enter the Salar by Colchani, where you will see the salt processing and piles of salt, visit the salt hotel. Your visit will be guided by the following cultural heritage of the Salar de Uyuni: * Salt Stairway: Designed with the purpose of allowing the taking of photographs with special optical effects. An overwhelming saline ensemble loaded with the most authentic beauty. * Dakar Rally Monument and the endless forest of flags: You will observe the flags worldwide, central symbol of Bolivia, heart of Latin America. * Salt Pyramid: From this point, you will observe the mountains outlined on the horizon, minimized by the distance and by the majesty imposed by the infinite salt plateau. * Polygons and Ojos de Sal: In the upper crust of the Salar, you will distinguish the so-called brine eyes. These are small holes formed by fine, sharp crystals like needles, accompanied by polygonal figures in the immense whiteness of the Salar.
Then continue downtown to visit the Incahuasi Island composed of volcanic rock and giant cactus. Then, climb to the top for an extraordinary viewpoint of the white salt plains. Our guide will accompany you to Incahuasi Island, characterized by being one of the high altitude islands whose soil is made up of fossils of algae, mollusks and other organisms known as stromatolites. There a vegetation composed of cactaceous plants develops. It is located in the central part, 74 km from Colchani. It has a steep surface of 24 hectares and the highest point is 40 meters above the salt level.
Afterwards, travel north, a distance of several kilometers to the Thunupa Volcano, Pucara of Ayque (pre-Columbian ruins) with great views, the Coquesa mummies and the Mirador de Thunupa, where you will ascend by car to its crater for breathtaking views of the salar in all its glory. Your tour will continue to the Thunupa Volcano and its surroundings, with sighting of Andean Flamingos and panoramic views of the Salar de Uyuni. You will learn the history and myths of this mysterious tourist attraction that, according to the community, there was a time when the mountains walked, talked and had human forms. You will enjoy a special toast in the middle of the Salar de Uyuni with sandwiches and hot drinks while watching a wonderful sunset, which by nature is painted with surreal colors and landscapes. Without a doubt... a special and unforgettable experience.

In the morning, head to Fish Island, is another black spot in the middle of the whiteness. It is formed on the remains of a petrified limestone volcano. It has a variety of cactaceans from shrubs with large thorns to large cacti. Then continue to Mala Mala Bay at the opposite end of the salar to head to Galaxy Cave, an extraordinary place where you will be able to appreciate ancestral burials and petrified cactus. Arrive at Tayka Red Stone Hotel located in San Pedro de Quemes, where you will enjoy a unique dining experience with the flavors of regional food.
To the south, you will find Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarkota, Honda and Ramadita, where large numbers of flamingos can be founded. Other birds, such as geese and Andean gulls accompany the flamingos in these lagoons flanked by snow-capped volcanoes that have a green skirt down below. You will have a stop at the Ollague Volcano Viewpoint at 5865 masl, one of the most active volcanoes in the Western Cordillera. From there you will observe fumaroles approximately 100 meters high. You will be immersed in volcanic rocks that present particular shapes.
Enter the desert sand, where the landscapes are painted in beautiful shades in order to reach the hotel.
At dawn, you will go in search of known geysers Sol de Mañana and arrive at the first rays of light. This is the highest point of the route, about 5000 meters, and the cold is intense. You will cross the Geysers, rare vapors on earth in the area are named as the Geysers of Sol de Mañana, because all its splendor occurs in the morning, with the first rays of light.
See pools where the land seems to boil red, gray and scarlet mud and can be traversed. The desert and Salar de Chalviri will be another great landscape combining the white snow, ocher desert, the blue waters and the white of borax. Take a bath in Termas de Polques and enjoy a hearty outdoors breakfast.
To leave this desert valley, you will visit Laguna Verde at the foot of Volcano Licancabur. You will arrive at this lagoon just in time to see how the water goes from emerald green to a duller color.
On your return, stop for lunch at Laguna Colorada, a main nesting center of three species of flamingos, where the algae and plankton are activated by solar radiation and wind.
On the tour are the extensive grounds of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, a protected area in Bolivia that has a unique ecosystem that combines incredible phenomena from the universe we inhabit. You will visit one of the most arid places on the planet, a desert characterized by strong winds and very interesting volcanic rock formations in their various forms such as the Stone Tree.
Finally at approximately 6:30 PM, you will return to Uyuni, our team will be in charge of taking you to your hotel in the City or making the transfer out to the Joya Andina Airport and/or Uyuni bus station.
