This tour allows a cultural immersion into the celebrations of the Day of the Dead in Mixquic, a unique place where hundreds of families get together to create a magical connection to their loved ones who have passed.

    Before we head all the way to Mixquic, we will have a quick stop in Coyoacán to have tamales. If you have a dietary restriction or allergy, please send us a message after completing your reservation to let us know.

    The San Andrés Mixquic cemetery, surrounding a 16th-century church, is a historic burial ground tied to ancient death cults. Famous for its vibrant Día de Muertos celebrations, it features marigold-adorned graves and altars. During this walking tour your guide will explain everything about the meaning of the Day of the Dead celebrations and you will get to witness the work families do to get the cemetery and the altars ready (Only on Nov 2nd) for the visit of their loved ones who had passed which is an incredible experience full of joy and color. You will also see the colorful muralsand the paper maché catrinas and ornaments that the residents of the town set up to bring the streets to life. There will be plenty of opportunities to take pictures that will serve as memories to cherish your trip to Mexico City. You will also visit some altars in private houses that have been made with lots of love and hope by the residents who expect to welcome their loved ones.
