The 2nd day tour concerns the lifestyle of prehistoric people dating back to thousand years and learn the history of hand drawing petroglyphs in Gobustan State Historical and Cultural Reserve, the bubbling Mud volcanoes. after greeting at the meeting point we drive to explore Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape. We will visit 3 main places in Gobustan. Firstly, we start to visit Gobustan Museum offering an immersive exploration into Azerbaijan's prehistoric heritage. The museum is renowned for its extensive collection of over 6,000 rock engravings that span more than 40,000 years of human history.
Second destination is Gobustan Rock Shelters renowned for its exceptional prehistoric rock engravings and ancient rock shelters. The area contains ancient rock shelters and caves that were once inhabited by early humans. Archaeological findings suggest that these shelters were used during a wetter climatic period following the last Ice Age, from the Upper Paleolithic to the Middle Ages.
Our third visited place in Gobustan is Mud volcanoes. Gobustan is home to the largest concentration of mud volcanoes in the world, with over 50 active mud volcanoes in the area. The mud volcanoes are concentrated in the Gobustan region, which is a semi-desert area along the Caspian Sea coast.
We complete the tour in Gobustan and return back to the City Centre. Our last stop on the way back to Baku is Bibi Heybat Mosque. The Mosque is a significant religious and architectural landmark in Baku, Azerbaijan. Originally constructed in the 13th century by Shirvanshah Farrukhzad II, the mosque was destroyed in 1934 during the Soviet anti-religious campaign.
The last day of the tour is related a rich journey into the cultural and historical heart of Azerbaijan. Today we will take a tour to the 4 main top visited places of Sheki region. First, we will start from Sheki Khan's Palace which is It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, crown jewel of Sheki and one of the most beautiful historical landmarks in Azerbaijan. must-visit for anyone interested in Islamic architecture, Silk Road history, and traditional Azerbaijani artistry.
Second destination is Old Sheki Caravanserai built late 18th century, during the Sheki Khanate’s peak. This is one of the best-preserved examples of a Silk Road inn in the Caucasus and a highlight of any visit to Sheki. Caravanserai offers a unique glimpse into the region's commercial past.
Third visited place of the day is Sheki city center where there is a charming blend of history, local culture, and relaxed small-town atmosphere. While Sheki is best known for its Khan’s Palace and historic architecture, the city center itself is a vibrant hub where modern Azerbaijani life meets traditional heritage. The Church is a fascinating place to visit for anyone interested in the early Christian history of the Caucasus and Azerbaijan. It offers a peaceful retreat and a deep dive into the rich cultural heritage of the region. Here is an early Christian site associated with Caucasian Albania, an ancient state that existed in the region long before Azerbaijan became predominantly Muslim. The Kish Church is traditionally believed to be built on the site where St. Elisaios, an Albanian Christian missionary, lived. It’s one of the oldest Christian churches in the Caucasus region.
