Salem Common is indeed a filming location in the original 1993 film Hocus Pocus: It appears in several outdoor scenes, including the moment when Allison gives Max his phone number back (the “no thanks, trick-or-treat!” scene), and other schoolyard-style shots featuring the playground and basketball court.
