Economic History Museum of Sri Lanka commonly known as the Currency museum or Money museum Construction of the building commenced in 1911, with the laying of its foundation stone. The National Mutual Building was opened in 1914, as the Colombo head office of a global insurance company, National Mutual Life Association of Australasia Limited. At the time of its opening it was the tallest building in Colombo The museum has a collection of currency which date back to the 3rd century BC. It includes coins from the Anuradhapura era (3 BC to 107 AD), Polonnaruwa to Kotte Kingdoms era (1017 AD -1597 AD), coins used during the Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial eras through to the modern era and commemorative coins and notes

It was built by the British colonial administration and is the oldest and largest park of Colombo. During World War II it was occupied by the British Army with Australian 17th Brigade based at Victoria Park. After the war the park was restored and open to the public in 1951
Independence Memorial Hall is a national monument in Sri Lanka built for commemoration of the independence of Sri Lanka from the British rule with the restoration of full governing responsibility to a Ceylonese-elected legislature on 4 February 1948. Red Mosque (Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque) The mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Colombo and a popular tourist site in the city Commenced in 1908 and the building was completed in 1909 It is a hybrid style of architecture, that draws elements from native Indo-lslamic and Indian architecture, and combines it with the Gothic revival and Neo-classical styles The mosque was commissioned by the local Indian Muslim community, based in Pettah, to fulfill their required five-times-daily prayer and Jummah on Fridays
