Quinta DA Regaleira (Ticket NOT included) Sintra was, in the 19th century, one of the first cribs DA romantic architecture in Europe. Its own climate and the resulting nature attracted the eyes of those who, sensitized by the landscape, dared to retouch it with a stunning architecture, in an edenial harmony propitious to the contemplation of the beautiful and the sublime. It is in this picturesque setting that we find, on the outskirts of the historic center DE Sintra, the Quinta DA Regaleira. Designed and built in the late 19th century, it reflects the sensitivity and cultural, philosophical and scientific interests of the principal Owner, António Augusto DE Carvalho Monteiro (1848-1920), allied with the virtuosism of Italian architect and scenographer Luigi Manini (1848-1936). The culture and creativity of these two personalities resulted in an eclectic-revivalist architectural ensemble, with particular emphasis on the styles Manuelino, Renaissance, medieval and classical.
"British poet Lord Byron described Sintra as a piece of heaven on earth". It is a place full of magic and mystery where nature and man have come together in such a perfect symbiosis. UNESCO classified it as a World Heritage Site in 1995. Right in the historic center, we see the Palácio da Vila with its two characteristic conical chimneys. Dating back to the end of the 14th century, it was the summer resort of many kings throughout the History of Portugal. After strolling through the narrow alleys and shops selling regional products, it is essential to enter one of the pastry shops to taste the famous traditional sweets as well as the famous ginga liqueur in a chocolate cup.
Cabo da Roca, located at latitude 38º 47´ North and longitude 9º 30´ West, will be one of the highlights of the tour, it is the westernmost point on the European continent. About 150 meters from the sea, here you can have a comprehensive view over the Serra de Sintra, the Atlantic coast and Cascais.
Part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, Praia do Guincho has a landscape of great beauty, in which the white sand dunes contrast with the foothills of the Serra de Sintra, which can be seen in the background. Because it is exposed to strong winds and has strong waves, this beach is very popular with bodyboarders and surfers. During the summer, due to the north that is felt here, Guincho is excellent for windsurfing, with national and international competitions taking place here.
Boca do Inferno is located on the Costa da Guia, west of the town of Cascais, in Portugal. The name "Boca do Inferno" given to this place is due to the morphological analogy and the tremendous and frightening impact of the waves that are felt there.
