Manjanggul Lava Tube (UNESCO World Natural Heritage) The total length of Manjanggul Lava Tube is about 7.4km. It is a lava tube that is partially multilayered. The main tunnel’s width is 18m and its height is 23m. It is one of the largest lava tubes in the world. There are many lava tubes in the world, but Manjanggul Lava Tube has a significant meaning in that it was formed thousands of years ago, and it is very well preserved. Therefore, it is very valuable to researchers and scientists. There are various cave formations in Lava Tunnel in Manjanggul Lava Tube, such as stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones, lava tubes, lava shelves, and lava rafts. In particular, the lava column that is located at the end of the tourist area is about 7.6m high and is known as the highest lava column in the world.
Jeju Haenyeo Museum Jeju established the Jeju Haenyeo Museum in 2003 to introduce to the world the unique activities and culture of Jeju's haenyeo. Haenyeo refers to female divers who dive into the ocean water to gather various shellfish and seaweed without any diving equipment. The museum exhibits various photos of haenyeo and their activities, to provide an accurate picture of their lives.
Sunrise Coastal Drive Road with Cafe The Gimnyeong Coastal Road a course known as the “Sunrise Coastal Road” with Sehwa Beach, the beach known for its cobalt blue colored clear water and soft sands locates in Gujwa-eup where accounts for about 60 percent of the nation’s annual carrot crop. You can relax and enjoy local carrot juice and the best carrot cake at a café filmed in K-drama. Take opportunity to send a post card to yourself or lover through a slow post box to memorize wonderful Jeju trip. There are many photo zones where you can take beautiful photos and relax in style.
Jeju Woman Diver Show (Haenyeo) – no show when raining. Jeju Woman Diver show is a must see performance for visitors going to Jeju. The legendary woman divers put on a full performance, from their pre-diving ritual, right up to their catch. They slice up their catch immediately in front of spectators offering them the opportunity to try some really fresh seafood! Seongsan Sunrise Peak (UNESCO World Natural Heritage) Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, which is 180m above sea level, erupted underwater in the ocean about 5,000 years ago. This makes it a very rare case among the many craters in Jeju Island. Seongsan Ilchulbong has long been considered one of the top scenic destinations in Korea. It attracts millions of visitors a year, many of whom climb to the top for the breathtaking panoramic view of the ocean, Udo Island, Hallasan Mountain, and the volcanic landscape of the east.
Seongeup Folk Village Seongeup Folk Village is a small town that holds a vast amount of culture over a wide period of time from 1410 to 1914. Cultural properties in the folk village have been handed down from generation to generation and include treasures such as residential houses, Confucian shrines and schools, ancient government offices, stone statues, large millstones (pulled by horses or ox), fortress ruins, and stone monuments. Among the cultural gems of the folk village are intangible cultural assets such as folk plays, native foods, local folk craftsmanship, and local dialect. Even the trees are an important part of the area’s heritage. Several zelkova and nettle trees that are hundreds of years old stand at the center of the village, preserving the dignified atmosphere of a bygone era. The Seongeup Folk Village shows the unique culture of Jeju Island. The local tongsi (traditional Jeju restroom) are especially well-known characteristics of Jeju folk culture.
