Founded in 1687, Yutoku Inari Shrine in Saga’s Kashima City is one of Japan’s top three Inari shrines. The Forest of Environmental Art was meticulously created by environmental artist Masaaki Tsuruta over a period of about 40 years. His aim was to preserve the natural ecosystem to the greatest extent possible and minimize human intervention, allowing visitors to harmoniously coexist with nature. Thanks to its magnificent natural scenery and distinct seasonal beauty, it has become a renowned destination for nature experiences and sightseeing in the region.
Yutoku Inari Shrine in Saga Prefecture—one of Japan’s three major Inari shrines—hosts a magical autumn light-up event inspired by “The Fox’s Wedding” (Kitsune no Yomeiri). From the charming shopping street to the shrine grounds, the path is beautifully lit with lanterns, evoking the mysterious glow of foxfire. The highlight is the Fox Wedding Procession, a 40-minute spectacle starting at 18:30. Participation in the procession is limited to 2 guests per day, available only on weekends—a rare and exclusive experience! Each participant will also receive a fox mask as a special keepsake. Founded in 1687, Yutoku Inari is dedicated to the deity of rice and prosperity, with its iconic hillside main hall offering sweeping views of the valley below.
