    Bab Mansour, the most preserved gate in Morocco: Started in the later years of Moulay Isma'il's reign, the gate was completed in 1732 under the supervision of his son, Moulay Abdallah. Designed more for ceremonial purposes than defense, its aim was to leave a lasting impression on visitors. Named after the gate's architect and designer, El-Mansour, who was once a Christian renegade that converted to Islam. In close proximity, another intricately adorned gate, Bab Jama' en-Nouar, stands along the same wall to the southwest. It shares similar decorative elements with the great Bab Mansour and is believed to also date back to the era of Moulay Ismail.

    Although Fes is home to other medersas, the one at Attarine stands out for its exceptional elegance and architectural harmony. It is one of the best-preserved and decorated medersas in Morocco. Built between 1323 and 1325 by the Marinid Sultan Abu Said Uthman, the Attarine Medersa derived its name from the adjacent souk specializing in perfumes and spices: the Souk el-Attarine. The walls of this ancient Quranic school in Fes are adorned with beautiful mosaics inscribed with Quranic verses. Impressive floral motifs grace the upper parts of the walls. The upper floors of the Attarine Medersa housed small rooms where young students spent their years of study.
