Façade features a Kufic inscription made entirely of brick, rare in both Western and Eastern Islamic architecture, linking the founder Ahmad ibn Hadidi and architect Musa ibn Ali
Nine-bay ribbed vault layout — the interior is organized into nine square compartments, each topped with a distinct dome.
A semi-circular apse added in the 12th century under Christian rule forms one of Spain’s earliest known mudéjar expansions to a mosque structure

Discover one of Toledo’s most remarkable architectural legacies of the Cristo de la Luz, originally the Mosque of Bab al‑Mardum, built in 999 AD during the Caliphate of Córdoba. This compact mosque is the only one of its kind to survive from the city's ten historic mosques, with much of the original structure intact. The building's square plan divides into nine vaulted compartments, each with uniquely ribbed ceilings, supported by four columns topped with Visigothic capitals. After the Christian reconquest, a Mudéjar-style apse and chapel were added, blending Islamic and Christian art traditions. Situated near Toledo’s Puerta del Sol, Cristo de la Luz offers a vivid glimpse into centuries of religious, architectural, and cultural continuity.
