With a relaxed 2pm departure from Melbourne, cross onto Phillip Island at San Remo and stop at the Phillip Island Nature Parks Koala Conservation Reserve. Wander tree-top boardwalks to watch koalas up close in their natural habitat. Take a walk through the woodlands & enjoy the abundant birdlife, wallabies, and echidnas.
Continue onto Seal Rocks and the Nobbies Centre to take a walk along the boardwalk and soak in the stunning views back towards the Mornington Peninsula from Phillip Island’s most western point. Take the scenic cliff drive dirt road for the potential spotting of wallabies and other wildlife in the wild plus take in cliff top photo opportunities.
And then it’s onwards to the main event, the Phillip Island penguin tour. Just after dark every night, the world’s smallest penguins waddle ashore after spending the day fishing out at sea. Be truly captivated as the stars of the show emerge from the surf and pass right before your eyes on their journey back to their burrows.
We depart from Bus Bay 58 at Melbourne's Southern Cross Station, best entrance is off Spencer st, opposite Little Burke st.
Pass this quaint little fishing village prior to crossing onto Phillip Island.
Explore this not for profit Koala Conservation Reserve with its excellent broad walks getting you up close and personal with the Koala's in their natural habitat.
Explore the coastal landscape with sweeping views over Seal Rocks and the Mornington Peninsula. With plenty of time for a short walk, you may even spot Penguins that have not ventured to sea going about their daily chores in and around their burrows.
Taking a dirt road along the cliff tops, there is plenty of opportunity to see Wallabies in their natural habitat, grazing and hopping about. We often see echidna's, goose plus the odd Red Belly Black Snake. Photo stops are also enjoyed at various cliff top panoramic locations offering vista's of Bass Strait.
The main event of your afternoon & evening to Phillip Island, we arrive about 1.25 hour prior to the speculated time of arrival for the Little Penguins enabling you to experience the visitors centre or grab a bite to eat. Just after sunset the Little Penguins will emerge from the ocean and waddle to their respective burrows. A sight to be seen! Our coach is one of the last to leave enabling you to really immerse yourself in their surrounds after dark and gain the maximum enjoyment of experiencing their behaviors.
