    Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine

The Ice River Shrine (Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture) is a famous shrine for marriage in the Kanto region, known for its summer wind chime festival and thousand torii gates. It is also the inspiration for the “Mikage Shrine” in the anime series “Genki Shoujo Enmusubi-sama”! The main deities, a married couple, symbolize good marriage, and visitors can pray for marriage omamori. From July to September each year, thousands of wind chimes are hung along the corridor, creating a dreamlike and romantic atmosphere. The “Hina Nagashi” ceremony within the shrine is said to ward off disasters and bring good fortune. The surrounding area features the historic “Kurazukuri Old Street,” where visitors can experience the atmosphere of Edo-period Japan. Admission is free, and during the Wind Chime Festival, the shrine remains open until 8:00 PM.
