"Kaze no Michi" is a cycling path built along the former Shimotsui Railway line. It offers a relaxing ride with scenic views of the Seto Inland Sea, seasonal flowers, and nostalgic remnants of old train stations.
This is the site of the former terminal station of the Shimotsui Railway, which once connected Kojima and Shimotsui. Until it was closed in 1990, the line served as a vital means of transportation for both locals and tourists. Today, parts of the platform and tracks remain, making it a nostalgic photo spot with a retro atmosphere.
You can learn about the lives of merchants and the trading systems from around 1800 to 1880 (late Edo to early Meiji period), as well as the history of distribution through the Kitamaebune shipping route. It offers a firsthand look at how maritime culture in the Seto Inland Sea shaped the development of the town.
Leaving the port town of Shimotsui behind, you'll climb a gentle slope on an electric-assist bicycle to reach the Second Observatory of Mt. Washuzan. Mt. Washuzan is part of the Setonaikai National Park and is renowned for its breathtaking views of the Seto Ohashi Bridge and the stunning island-dotted seascape.
At the Second Observatory of Mt. Washuzan, enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the majestic Seto Ohashi Bridge stretching from Honshu to Shikoku, along with the calm, island-dotted scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. Afterward, please enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant of your choice. If the main restaurant is closed, we will guide you to an alternative eatery or a takeout option. (Please note that the cost of lunch is not included and must be paid individually.)
