he Tatsumi Yagura, also known as the Sakurada Nijū Yagura, is a historic watchtower located within the grounds of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Built during the Edo period, it is one of the few remaining structures that represent the original Edo Castle architecture. Perched at the southeastern corner of the former inner castle moat, the tower served both defensive and symbolic purposes. Its name "Tatsumi" refers to its orientation in the southeast direction, and "Nijū Yagura" means "two-story turret." Although not open to the public for interior visits, the yagura can be admired from outside, especially from the nearby paths in the Imperial Palace East Gardens. It is a popular spot for photography and historical interest, offering a glimpse into Japan’s feudal past amid the modern landscape of Tokyo.
