Tarangire National Park covers approximately 2,850 square kilometers and is renowned for its massive elephant herds, striking baobab trees, and a wealth of animal and bird species. When embarking on a camping safari to Tarangire, you are signing up for an intimate, immersive experience in nature. Unlike lodge-based safaris, camping puts you right in the heart of the wild, where the calls of lions, the rustling of zebras, and the trumpet of elephants become your nighttime lullabies. You will expect to see; 1. Elephants — The Giants of Tarangire 2. Big Cats and Predators 3. Giraffes, Zebras, and Antelope Galore 4. Buffalo and Wildebeest 5. Primates Birdwatching in Tarangire: A Hidden Paradise For bird enthusiasts, Tarangire is a birder’s dream, with over 550 species
After breakfast, drive to Serengeti via Ngorongoro with en route game towards Serengeti. The name Serengeti comes from the Maasai word “Siringet”, meaning “endless plains.” And indeed, when you enter Serengeti National Park, that’s exactly what you’ll find — vast, golden grasslands stretching to the horizon, dotted with acacia trees, granite kopjes, and teeming with wildlife. It’s no exaggeration to say that Serengeti is Africa’s crown jewel of wildlife viewing, and a dream destination for nature lovers, photographers, and adventurers alike. Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning for another safari, Serengeti always delivers. And for those choosing a camping safari, the experience becomes even more personal, raw, and unforgettable. 1 The Great Migration 2 Predators 3 The Big Five 4 Birdlife 5 Landscapes & Regions: A Diverse Environment Those are things to expect while visiting Serengeti. Camping safaris offer a deeper connection to the wilderness than lodge.
Start your day with an optional sunrise game drive in the Serengeti plains. Early morning is a prime time to witness predators: Lions and cheetahs may still be active from the night hunt. Leopards are often seen descending from trees. Large herbivores like buffaloes, zebras, and giraffes are on the move. As you leave the Serengeti and enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the landscape changes dramatically: From flat plains to rolling highlands, forests, and Maasai villages. You may encounter Maasai herders, donkeys, and even wildlife like giraffes and elephants on the roadside. Welcome to Simba A Campsite, perched right on the Ngorongoro Crater Rim. This public campsite is one of the most scenic in Tanzania and offers: Panoramic views into the crater (weather permitting). Cold but refreshing highland air. Wildlife such as zebras, buffaloes, and even elephants may roam through or near the campsite.
Wake up early — it will be cold and misty due to the high elevation. Enjoy a hot breakfast (tea/coffee, toast, eggs or porridge) prepared by your safari cook. Pack up tents and gear; load the safari vehicle. Use the bathrooms (note: basic facilities and no hot water) What Clients Can Expect to See: Lions: Resident prides are commonly seen hunting or resting in open grass. Black rhinos: One of the last places in Tanzania where you can spot them in the wild. Elephants: Particularly older bulls with massive tusks. Buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, and Thomson’s gazelles are abundant. Hippos: Seen in the lakes and wallowing in mud pools. Hyenas: Very active in the morning. Jackals, warthogs, and sometimes cheetahs or leopards. Ascend the Crater and Begin Return Journey to Arusha Begin your ascent up the crater wall, heading toward the Loduare Gate (Ngorongoro exit). You'll pass beautiful views back across the crater, possibly with Maasai cattle and herders along the rim.
