Continue onward as the vast Serengeti stretches endlessly before you. The name “Serengeti” means “endless plains,” and this 18,000 sq km park is home to over two million wildebeest. From January to April, it becomes a birthing ground for wildebeest calves, along with countless zebras and Thomson’s gazelles. Large predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas follow this migration in search of prey. You may also spot smaller animals like rock hyraxes, bat-eared foxes, mongooses, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, and African hares along the way.

The crater boasts the highest density of animals anywhere on the planet, with rivers, swamps, a soda lake filled with flamingos, forests, and open grasslands. Look out for massive bull elephants with huge tusks, nourished by the crater’s mineral-rich soil.
