In Tottori local people have a tradition of eating "Tofu-chikuwa", and its history dates back to Edo Period. “Tofu-chikuwa” not only plays a role as daily food, but also is eaten at shrine’s ceremony or wedding on special day called “Hare no Day”. These shrines are built in the central city area of Tottori city, which prospered as a castle town since ancient times. In this sense, “Tofu-chikuwa” has been a really consistent tradition in Tottori people’s food culture since Edo period. Please try how this food tastes, and buy some as souvenirs if you are into them!
