The archaeological zone was a Mayan city in pre-Hispanic times that covers an area of 12 km². The site has 45 architectural structures of different dimensions, as well as several central plazas. Based on the epigraphic data found, it is believed that it was a major city of great importance in the region in the Middle Classic period.
This semi-open cenote has an opening in the ceiling of the cave through which natural light enters to illuminate the interior, while long tree roots cascade into its waters. Something really beautiful.
