1Byblos Castle
Arrive in Byblos and enter one of the most layered and extraordinary archaeological sites in the world. The 12th-century Crusader castle that dominates the site was built from stones recycled from Phoenician temples and Roman buildings — civilisations literally built on top of each other, their stones reused and repurposed across millennia. Inside, the full depth of Byblos unfolds beneath your feet: Neolithic settlements dating to 5000 BC, Bronze Age temple platforms, Phoenician royal tombs carved into the bedrock, Persian-era walls, and Roman colonnaded streets stretching toward the sea. Your expert guide reads every layer of this extraordinary site aloud — connecting the dots between civilisations that most visitors walk past without realising what they are standing on. 2Old Souk
Step out of the archaeological site and into the living city — the old souk's stone-paved lanes wind past jewellers crafting Phoenician-inspired pieces, antique dealers with centuries of accumulated finds, and café doorways that have been open for generations. Follow the lane all the way down to the ancient fishing harbour — one of the oldest ports in the world, still in daily use, still colourful with wooden boats, still framed by medieval walls with the Mediterranean beyond. This is where the history ends and the present begins — and where lunch, if you choose to stay, will be one of the most memorable of your trip.

3Byblos
