2 hours 30 minutes (approximately)

Enjoy the freedom of paddling the French Broad on a wide, stable paddelboard!

Standing and paddling is much easier than you think, and these boards are some of the best watercraft for the river, since you can stand, sit, kneel, lie down, and not be constrained by only being in one position the whole time.

All of the guides are local SUP enthusiasts and Asheville paddleboard specialists, who can not only serve as your local guides, but also teach you everything from paddleboard basics to racing technique and tricks.

Board, paddle, and a dry bag are provided, and you can choose from sunrise, mid-morning, mid-afternoon, or late-afternoon trips.

What to expect

Enjoy a 4-mile, guided paddleboard trip down the French Broad River in Asheville, and finish within walking distance of restaurants and breweries in the heart of Asheville's River Arts District.

Learn all about town from a professional guide who will also teach you the strokes and technique for navigating your way down the river. All tours are private--so no paddling as part of a group--and the wide, stable, comfortable boards create an easy, user-friendly experience that first time paddlers can enjoy.

Over the course of the 4-mile tour you'll pass through parkland, forests, and streams while keeping an eye out for local wildlife such as herons, turtles, and deer. See where the Swannanoa River meets up with the French Broad, which is one of the oldest rivers in the world, as it weaves through the Appalachian Mountains.
