Beautiful and so very pleasing to the eye!
Pros:

This place is fab! Loved it so much. Their attention to every detail was so very pleasing, and I enjoyed exploring all the great treats and thrills scattered around the room and hotel. Close to everything and a delight to enjoy for the weekend.

My only comment was that, during the heatwave, the room was impossibly & uncomfortably hot! The staff did all they could and gave me two fans to help me sleep, but it was still truly stifling.

Disappointing
Pros:

I was so disappointed had wanted to visit this hotel for a while. The hotel looks like everyone has lost heart. Neglected and staff thin on the ground. Boiling hot room without ac with hardly any electrical points so had to unplug things to put the kettle on. Peeling paint and not in a shabby chic way and a part of town that is down on its luck. Bar deserted and no one had breakfast. Think it must have been lovely in its day but now out of fashion. Sorry I hate leaving bad reviews but definitely not worth the price, now just a seaside bnb.

Amazing!
Pros:

Booked a last minute stay (for a birthday and the eclipse) and we were (very pleasantly) surprised. We had a room upgrade on arrival, and the room was beautiful (and very clean). The staff were wonderfully helpful, you could/can get drinks etc. at the hotel, and there was a car park with lots of spaces very closeby. We would definitely return to the accommodation - great value for money.

Melting down experience
Pros:

No air conditioning in 2026 at the hottest town in the UK during the hottest week in 30 years is a very bad joke especially when you are at the top floor of an old building. Speechless that they are charging us for this or offering it to start with.

The ugly side of ‘boutique’ accommodation. Steer clear. Will ask for full refund at checkout and update the review. Astonishing.

Delightful and comfy base for eclipse-watching
Pros:

I like to visit Brighton at least a couple of times a year, having lived there previously, and The Artist Residence is now my go-to. This time, I decided at the last minute to head for Brighton to watch the August 2026 solar eclipse, and I felt very lucky to be able to book a cosy sea-view room with a balcony that gave me an excellent view of the eclipse. Even better, coincidentally I got the room with cosmos-themed decor by local artist Joe Webb! As always, this was a comfy stay and the staff were delightful. Didn’t stay for breakfast this time, but have had lovely breakfasts here before. A relaxed and quirky boutique hotel in the perfect location.

Perfect!
Pros:

It had so much character, and our room (room 2) had a balcony looking onto the sea! The staff were so lovely and the drinks at the bar were good too! And they’ve just started doing Hugo spritz!

Cons:

You have to pay for the snacks in your room haha

Stylish boutique hotel with fab sea views
Pros:

Lovely location with great sea view. Very stylish public areas. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, although could have done with aircon.
It was a lot of money, but that was probably due to pride weekend.

Well decorated and nice view
Pros:

The hotel is well located, with a very nice view from the common areas. Breakfast and the lounge are amazing, and the service was really good as well. All the rooms and common areas were well decorated.

Cons:

I was under the impression that the hall towards the room was a bit dusty or under renovation.
