Heredad de Unanue

Beautiful hotel in a great spot outside of San Sebastián. There is a train station 10 minutes walk down the hill to take you into San Sebastián but that hill does feel quite steep on the way back up!
All the staff are amazingly friendly and encourage you to feel at home in the hotel. The food is fantastic and we enjoyed having breakfast and dinner outside on the lovely terrace.
If we ever return to this part of Spain, we would definitely stay here again.

Fuori dal caos di San Sebastian ma abbastanza vicina per raggiungere la città in una decina di minuti. La pulizia eccellente, la grande cortesia e l’ottima colazione sono le principali caratteristiche di questa struttura. Mi dispiace essere rimasta solo una notte, mi sarebbe piaciuto provare anche la loro ristorazione a cena.

We spent 3 magical nights at Heredad de Unanue in San Sebastián, and it was nothing short of spectacular. If you're looking for an unforgettable experience, this is the place.
The hosts were absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, their attention to every little detail made us feel so pampered and welcomed. On top of that, their English is absolutely flawless, which made communication effortless. They shared the rich history and the story behind the accommodation with us, and honestly, it felt like stepping into a fairytale—it adds such a unique, magical vibe to the whole stay.
The estate itself is gorgeous. It’s a beautifully restored historic building that perfectly balances authentic, old-world charm with modern elegance. You really get a sense of its past just walking through it. The location is just as stunning—tucked away in a peaceful, lush green landscape that gives you the ultimate relaxing retreat, yet still perfectly connected to everything San Sebastián has to offer.
But the absolute highlight? The dinner. We had a meal cooked by a Michelin-starred chef right there, and it was quite literally out of this world. Every single bite was a masterpiece.
I really can't recommend Heredad de Unanue enough. We will definitely be coming back!

Such a peaceful and beautiful stay. The grounds and location really made you feel like slowing down and taking in all the surrounding nature. The interior design was homely yet refined.

The hosts were so so amazing. We had a very basic understanding of Spanish, so we were so grateful that they spoke English and they were able to help us with transport and local tips. They also were very hospitable offering snacks with our coffee and tea.

The room was comfortable and the little window in our room was very cute.

The very warm welcome and remembering we stayed there in 2022. Got an upgrade to the same room as before. Home from home! Delicious dinner by chef Xaxa. As we left very early before breakfast, we were treated to cake and coffee to take away. Very thoughtful.

This really was a special spot, from the moment we arrived. The owners can’t do enough for you, and you really did feel like you were staying in their home. The ‘always available’ tea, coffee and water was a lovely touch. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to explore the garden as the weather wasn’t particularly good. A really tranquil spot, great for relaxing. Breakfast was lovely too, you just order the evening before.

We were greeted with warmth och the highest form of hospitality! From the beginning til the end everything was pristine. The owners gave us a grand tour of the hotel and told us all about the surrounding area. We got tips and recommendations, which were super helpful.

The rooms were exquisite, beautifully designed and comfortable beds.

We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotell. Everything was very delicious! Our tips are to let the hotell choose your breakfast on the table in the morning, it was abundant and filled with delicious local produce!

We loved this stayed and hope we will stay here again. The warmest thanks to the kind staff and owners.
