Food was amazing
Room for 3 people a little tight
Staff were so lovely, cocktails and vibe at the bar were excellent and breakfast on the rooftop was a real treat!
Nothing!
Location is really good, just a small walk to the luas. The staff they were very accommodating. Plenty of bars right outside the hotel.
No parking on site and no options to private park somewhere and pay. The staff did help tho in letting us know whatvstreet to park in. Be careful as some streets closer to the hotel are pay and display or permit parking.
The hotel is very well-appointed. Such a creative place and space. The fixtures and furnishings are first-class and all staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. We were significantly delayed prior to arrival and contact with reception and night porter/reception staff was met with efficiency and no sign of fuss nor inconvenience. Much appreciated!
Air-con in room was limited, when opening window, discovered the main air-con filtering vents from kitchen/ hotel were located just outside our window, hence noise and smell. This is doubtless unavoidable and the temperatures were very (unusually!) high as mini "heatwave" in progress. Raising only as it was a blip on an otherwise excellent stay.
All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The receptionist made sure to have the air conditioning turned on in our room prior to our check-in. This was very much appreciated as it was an excessively hot day.
The hotel is very modern and everywhere is spotlessly clean.
Our room, although very modern and very clean, was small for 3 adults, even for a bunk room.
When buying 2 drinks in the bar, I didn't like being forced to decide, before my card tap payment was processed, whether to tip the bar person or not. I like to tip staff when I get good and friendly service but I don't like to be put in this forced tip or don't tip position, especially in front of staff. It can be embarrassing for both your customer and your staff member. It seems like this practice is becoming the norm and many businesses claim it is built in to their payment processing service provider's systems and it can't be avoided. If that is the case, it is only becoming the norm because enough businesses don't strongly object to it, instead of accepting it willingly. It would be great if this was not the case as this practice can potentially take from what would otherwise be a great experience with your business.
Hotel was clean and modern. Lovely rooftop restaurant and handy coffee bar at the entrance. Staff were extremely helpful and everything was accommodated from early check in and parking.
I liked that there was a restaurant/ coffee bar / cocktail bar and handy parking nearby.
Everything from the politeness of the lovely staff to the cool setting and the bar and restaurant.
Nothing.
Wonderful Ambience and excellent food. Lovely neighbourhood.
Room way too small. I was solo and room was for two but not really even big enough for one.
If you're looking for a beautiful venue for a fun but relaxed wedding, the Devlin couldn't be more perfect!
THE VENUE
The venue itself is so cool! We had a lovely sunny day in August so we were able to have the terrace with the rooftop pulled back which was so special. The view from the other side of the bar over the mountains is gorgeous. We didn't bother with decorations beyond little bud vases with some flowers on the tables because the decor is already lovely!
THE FOOD!
The food was fantastic. We wanted there to be a flow of food all evening instead of a sit down meal and the team were so fantastic in making our vision come to life. We had antipasti platters when people arrived, small canapes before the speeches, fish and chips (and veggie/vegan options) before the band and then pizzas as our late night food. Someone said 'my only complaint about the food is there's so much of it I can't eat it all' so mission accomplished there! They also laid out our cakes so beautifully and wrapped all the leftovers up for us for our Day 2 (and the food tasting was so fun!)
THE DRINKS
The drinks were also amazing! We have a lot of non-drinkers so we wanted a venue that did lots of really good quality non-alc options – the strawberry and basil mocktail was a particular hit! We also wanted a cocktail hour with mini margaritas and iced lattes which was off menu, but the bar team made it happen and it went down an absolute treat.
THE ROOMS
The rooms at the Devlin aren't huge, but they have everything you need. The bathrooms are lovely and the pressure in the showers is great! The beds are super comfortable and I have it on good authority from many of our guests that the Tayto in the rooms was very much appreciated come 2am!
THE BEST TEAM EVER
Finally, the team. The staff at the Devlin are some of the kindest, most wonderful people and they made the preparation, the day itself and the days around the wedding just perfect. Firstly a huge shoutout to Kaela who helped us organise the entire thing. She was such a calming presence and I knew everything was in hand.
I don't know the names of the rest of the staff who helped on the night but We had so many guests commenting the next day about how incredible the team were. You can tell they love their work and it really made all the difference! They were even smiling and laughing clearing up at 1.30am!
And then there's the team who weren't even at the wedding itself but looked after us and our guests so well that I can't do a review without shouting them out! Barbara, Leonora, Joao and Jamie were so amazing (Jamie even helped us pack up our car when we were leaving?!)
We felt so well looked after from start to finish and I honestly can't shout them all out highly enough.
I hope this review has convinced you that if you want a cool, relaxed and fun wedding with delicious food and wonderful staff, the Devlin is absolutely the place to be 💛
- Decor (well designed, but not well executed and room a bit run down)
- Overall facilities availability (coffee shop, cinema, breakfast)
- Parking limited, paid and too far from the hotel and no proper drop off space
- Staff (reception and cleaner) indifferent to guests (no greetings when entering/leaving)
- Cleaning should be offered as opt-out and not requested to opt-in
- Guest discount should be offered for cinema
- Poor checkout experience as there was a surprise charge for breakfast. We booked breakfast included but were presented with extra charges as we had more than the daily value paid, which negates the "breakfast included). In fairness to the hotel, the charge was removed after discussion
- If booking over the weekend, be mindful that loud DJ music can be heard from the bar downstairs
- No wardrobe, just 3 hangers, no coffee machine
