The room is not sound proofed at all - we were woken both late at night the first night and early morning on the last day by our neighbors talking - not shouting - just talking. We love the hotel but the lack of any sound proofing makes it highly likely we will not return. The fact that I need to buy coffee in the am (nothing is offered by the hotel complimentary) is annoying.
Nice Hotel
Hotel is pretty nice. But…I originally booked my room back in 2024 in advance for the ryder cup. I get a random email from the hotel 1 month before the event that they were canceling my room. No explanation. I had to call and they then told me “we apologize but we overbooked our rooms because of an upcoming event and have to cancel 7 reservations and your’s is one of them”. I asked for a manager and talked to Natasha, who essentially admitted they “overbooked”. Her outlook on the situation seemed to change when I had told her we had insurance on the room. Then all of a sudden they had enough room for us. Fast forward to the day we arrive at the hotel, we checked in and gave us our room key card. We walk to the room, the key card worked and we walked in and there was another customer inside the room with their dog. I wasnt too happy that they activated another key card for a room with someone else still staying (sleeping) inside. They apologize, and gave us another key card. We go to the next room, open the door, and immediately are hit in the face with the strong odor of propane gas. I go back to the front counter and tell them of the odor. Her response “oh yeah, nothing is wrong, that just happens”. I demanded another room and insisted they fix the possible gas leak. I get to the final (3rd) room and the door deadbolt didn't work. Upon checking out I had noticed they charged us an additional $300 with no explanation. No manager on site at 8:00am to assist. Avoid this place.
The Vanderbilt Hotel proved to be an excellent hotel and the accommodations were very spacious and clean.
I had to travel to Long Island and stay at a hotel that was close to the Cradle of Aviation Museum and the Vanderbilt was on my radar before I moved forward with booking an overnight stay there.
What made me book my reservation was a friendly conversation I had with the front desk staff whom I called the day prior.
The room I stayed in had hardwood floors, a large bedroom, king size bed and mini refrigerator, and I appreciated the option to sit outside near the pool although it was closed, work out in the fitness room, and catch up on work in an environment within the hotel that had strong WiFi, ample outlets for laptop and phone chargers, and quiet guests/residents.
Everyone was very friendly and respectful, and I felt welcome by the front desk staff and even lucked out by receiving an early check in time which I was in dire need of.
Please keep in mind that many units at the Vanderbilt are occupied by residents. This is not a hotel for individuals who want to party and disrupt their neighbors, which is also precisely what I appreciated.
The nearby Target had a Starbucks and I was able to walk each day I was in Westbury.
I was very pleased with my stay at the Vanderbilt and I’ll definitely book a reservation there in the future if I have to travel to Nassau County Long Island in the future and be within close proximity to the Cradle of Aviation Museum.
Great hotel, will definitely stay again
My family and I love staying here, it’s home away from home when we want a little break
Took my daughter and her 2 best friends here for her birthday so we enjoy the pool. This hotel suite is close to the mall and a lot of eateries. Beautiful spacious rooms and cool game room
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
The bed/mattress was entirely too low!
Two huge closet spaces - different from most hotel suites.
Very beautiful and well located. With chic decor and environment
We really enjoyed our stay at the Vanderbilt. It is so clean and has great amenities-pool, pool tables/table tennis, restaurant in property. Shopping malls and great dining nearby. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were modern and the entire property was soooo clean!
Nice place
The accessibility is amazing. The room is very spacious.
Good choice 👌
Beautiful place in the middle of a busy area
We checked in for what was supposed to be a relaxing birthday getaway, only to be called an hour later and told we had to move rooms — and that we could not stay for our second night because someone who lives at the property gets priority. We were told we’d have to move down the road to their other location.
When we explained that this was a birthday trip and we didn’t want to move, the man at the front desk was completely dismissive. And felt the percentage offered was generous and we were being dramatic. At one point he was getting visibly angry and raised his voice.
To make matters worse, our original room had a king bed — but we were moved to a room with two queens, and then the next night to a far less impressive room that was described as an “executive suite,” but was nowhere near as nice or luxurious.
The one bright spot was Mark at the front desk at the other property. He was kind, professional, and sincerely apologetic — truly the only reason this review isn’t one star.
They also charged my card three times, and I’m now waiting for those charges to drop off.
Bottom line: If you book through Expedia, beware — they may bump you if they decide someone else’s stay is more important than yours. Disappointed and would not stay again.
Long term rental property with limited shorter availability. Rooms are spacious and equipped with long term living amenities. New building but lot
Great place!!
Well appointed suite. Sofa and sofa bed was clean with no stains-carpet underneath sofa was clean which is usually not the case in many hotels. Amenities are amazing and stylish. Gym was just the right size. Pool just as pictured.
Front desk were exceptional, profession and courteous. Hotel was clean, immaculate. I enjoyed the library/work area. Room was imcredible in terms of size, very comfortable bed. Overall, can't say enough great things about my stay.
