Excelentes instalaciones y el servicio es lo más destacado, sobre todo del personal del restaurante
Cusín is one of the best places I've stayed while visiting over a dozen countries. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff is friendly, the room was large and comfortable, and the restaurant was great. The grounds and buildings offer numerous places to socialize, admire the gardens, or curl up with a book. For those who don't have any command of Spanish, the front desk staff has excellent English, and the restaurant staff have *enough* English to be understood. The location was great for getting out and exploring the Imbabura region. You can walk, hike, or ride a rented bike in any direction. The village of San Pablo is friendly, charming enough, and does not have any trace of tourism so it really offers an authentic look at small-town indigenous life – there are restaurants, shops, bakeries, and a town square, although you will definitely have to use some Spanish to get the most out of this place. We paired up with the local guide Christian Palomeque for several day trips – a hike at Cuicocha, a trip to Zuleta and a hike at Cubilche, and a bike ride around the lake and over to Otavalo. Christian was fantastic and easy to work with, and his connection to the Hacienda really made our trip. Overall, the value for the money was incredible – we paid around $130 per night which is quite a bit less than our average hotel room over the past few countries we've visited; yet Hacienda Cusín was one of the best, most comfortable, and most beautiful places we've stayed.
Only a few gripes. The water pressure in the shower was occasionally too low. In the restaurant, while the meals for lunch and dinner were generally good, breakfast was lacking some variety. The hacienda also offers a short hiking trail guide that you can access through a QR code at the front desk, but as an experienced hiker, I wished for a bit more. I totally understand that hiker / adventure types might not be the most common clientele for Cusín but if I could wave a magic wand, I would have wanted a more complete trail guide. As it was, I ended up finding my own route to get about halfway up Cerro Cusín, the large mountain just behind the hacienda – for those who are comfortable improvising with e.g. Google Maps or Wikiloc, it's very doable and there are paths through the farm lands that climb the slopes.
Hermosa simplemente hermosa
We were looking for a relaxing weekend away from the hubbub. This definitely fit the bill

Stunningly beautiful
Nothing at all! It was beautiful! Want to return!
It is a beautiful hacienda in the Northern Andes of Ecuador, combining traditional architecture and art with beautiful gardens !! The staff was amazing and made us feel at home (thank you!!)
Hermosas habitaciones e instalaciones en general

Everything about Hacienda Cusin far exceeded our expectations! Before even arriving, we inquired into something special to do for our friend visiting from far away. They provided a complimentary (and beautiful) flower arrangement with our message on a card...our friend was extremely surprised and moved by the gesture. In addition to this, the grounds are amazing...we spent hours exploring the old monastery, beautifully cared for organic gardens, library, artifacts in every room and paths around the property. It was like staying at a museum, unfolding the many stories of this property's past and cultural insights into the area. The staff were super friendly, Melisa greeted us with a historical walk around the grounds and welcome drink, everyone was very accommodating to our dog, and always with a smile. We stumbled upon the gardens and Louis (head gardener on the property for 30 years) gave us a private walk through them, allowing us to smell and learn about the abundance of herbs and vegetables cultivated at Hacienda Cusin. When the fireplaces on the property and in rooms are lit at 7pm, we were able to enjoy the comfy, warm ambiance while sipping a cocktail and chatting with friends. The breakfast was outstanding and plentiful to help us start the day. We were not able to have lunch or dinner on site and truly regret missing out! Hacienda Cusin was more than a place to stay for the evening, it was an experience that we will never forget. We are already planning to bring our parents in a few months and would hands down recommend this location to anyone looking for a memorable trip to Otavalo!
We loved everything and have zero suggestions or complaints. It was impressive how much every detail of our stay was thought out and cared for. We did not need for anything during our stay.
The property is beautiful, quiet, and private, an oasis. Online photos did not do the property justice. Staff were friendly and helpful at every encounter. Each evening, they lit a fire in our room and placed a hot water bottle between the sheets to warm our bed. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. The hotel property is gorgeous and delightful to walk around and see the large organic garden, monastery, and landscaped grounds. There are also a range of hiking trails/options directly from the hotel. Easy driving distance to Otavalo, Condor Park, Laguna Cuicocha, etc.
