Felt like a secluded property but walkable to downtown Ashville
Pros:

The home is beautiful and well preserverd. The grounds are spacious and landscaped nicely. The front porch was a perfect spot for morning coffee or happy hour cocktail. Our room was quaint and comfortable. Sara who runs the inn is a real gem. Pleasant, energetic and a wealth of information.

Cons:

We loved everything about our stay. The breakfast served is only continental but that is stated upfront.

One night is not enough!
Pros:

The house itself is beautifully cared for! The bedrooms were beautiful with very comfortable beds and very clean. Our bathroom was modern and traditional at the same time. Perfect for an older home where you want the history and the comfort. Our host was wonderfully friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was fresh and delicious!

Not the best of stays as were not in the Historic Beaufort Inn.
Pros:

The house is beautiful. Very victorian and it great condition.

Cons:

I picked this house because I wanted to stay in a historic bed and breakfast. We (my friends had a separate room) were put in the "Annex". Not the main house. So beware when you book on booking.com. To say the least, I was incredibly ticked off. So we were in some "cottages' (rooms) behind the main house. We couldn't maintain the temperature in the rooms. Temp control was up to the property manager. Our rooms were 71. I froze. I keep the back door open a lot.

Goede prijs kwaliteit
Pros:

Lots of minor inconveniences. Wouldn’t go back.
Pros:

Location
Grounds

Cons:

Couldn’t adjust temperature except by calling staff. Couldn’t turnoff light and fan separately. Bedside light and table only on one side of bed. No real bathroom, shower and toilet in separate rooms directly off of bedroom. Breakfast only fair. Terrace/balcony unpleasant space.

Nice Inn - damp basement room stay was not great
Pros:

The Inn itself is a beautiful building and the grounds are well maintained. Nice walkable neighborhood of old houses. The desk manager, Sam, was pleasant and professional and was responsive to any questions we had. The Continental breakfast was okay - we only had it one day. Aside from that, the only thing I would not recommend is staying in the Oak Terrace Room. This is a basement room with the euphemism of "garden view"(which I know from being in northern cities but for some reason thought in the South they really just meant it was maybe a first-floor room with a view of a garden - dummy me). So, being a basement room it was humid and clammy and consequently our towels were damp, the bedding was damp-ish, and our clothing was damp (even things we hung out overnight to un-dampen a bit). Sam was kind enough to bring us new towels for our second night because there was no way the ones we used for our morning showers were going to dry at this rate. Since the entry is direct from the outside of the building and it was raining, there is no way you can avoid tracking in dirt even if you take your shoes off upon entering. Then the dirt gets stuck to the dampish laminate floor and ends up in the dampish sheets. The bed in this room is also almost too firm but some people do prefer that; it wasn't great though for side sleepers with bad hips. The internet was spotty for us in our room for our entire 2-night stay, bumping us out while in the middle of using it multiple times so I don't know if that is also because we were in an old basement. The glass block window looking into darkness (other half of the basement?) over the jetted tub was also kind of funky/odd since there was no natural light for it to let in. The nights were relatively quiet but you will hear the people in the room overhead walking around as is typical with an old building. Another thing noted upon entering the first day and upon returning if we went out: the fabric softener or chemical cleanser or whatever it is that they use in this room is very overpowering to the point of being headache-inducing. It was very noticeable even for people who like us who don't have scent sensitivities; I called the after-hours number to ask about this and they said it was likely fabric softener. If anything, I think investing in a good de-humidifier for this room and eliminating that overly perfumed fabric softener or cleanser odor or whatever it is would be a great start on improving it. Maybe also a boot/shoe tray to contain dirt from muddy shoes on rainy days. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been so bad. Common areas of the Inn that we visited briefly did not have the same dampness. In the evenings, more caffeine-free teas and hot water would be nice. When we got back at 7 both nights the hot water was tepid at best, and the second night there were only caffeinated teas on hand. The chocolate chip cookies, though, are really good. If we return (we may) I would definitely choose a room on a higher floor. Overall, the Inn is a "Very Good". The Oak Terrace room, however, is only an "Average".
