Super clean tub - so comfortable for a soak! Booked the specific room for the claw foot tub, and it didn't disappoint.
Sheets were extremely soft. Bed was incredibly comfortable (not too firm, perfect amount of blankets.
Check in was very easy.
Wood, stained glass, and art nouveau details of the house and the lovely wraparound porch with plenty of seating made this place such a treat to stay at.
Shower was super hot and then super cold - it was like the water was alternating.
Creepy door to the roof was open - couldn't lock it. Just held some broken tiles, but it would have been nice if it had been sealed.
No room temp control. Fine for an old house, but A/C was on when it was less than 60 degrees outside. There was a gas fireplace but no info on how to use it.
"Hearty" breakfast is very basic continental - not filling at all. We had to go elsewhere to eat. Staff did not clear dishes or supply cutlery regularly enough at breakfast.
Check in time; 1100 check out time; comfortable bed; amazing shower; temperature of room was perfect; quiet area even though surrounded by so many other homes. Loved that house was so close to walking to downtown area. All around great value.
Breakfast could have been better. Yogurt was in a shared bowl for all guests; no microwave to heat eggs or oatmeal if needed after mixing with hot water; had to wait on coffee; only one shared canister for all guests; had to ask for items instead of having plenty displayed for all guests.
The 5* reviews on here are no where near our experience of this guest house. Our room was very compact, the bathroom (5ft x 3ft) was a toilet and a shower fashioned into what must have originally been a store cupboard. If you sat on the loo your knees and feet protruded into the shower. No window in the 'bathroom cupboard'. Showering was an experience. Sink was in the bedroom.
Only one bedside table due to space. Very little space for cases and as we were travelling through the mid west we were living out of our cases.
The house is listed as a historic building...goodness only knows why as in UK this is just another cronky old B&B that needs investment. It was clean, cold given age and weather at the time and breakfast was as described... a continental offer which was fine. However, I totally understand why US travellers are impressed by its age and hence the reviews.
The house was beautiful! This was my boyfriend’s and my first time at a bed and breakfast. It was also super easy to walk to the downtown area.
The room was very warm at night. I did not think the heat was needed during this time since it got very warm during the day.
Disappointed when we were not in the Inn itself, but given a room called a cottage behind the back of the house, even though this is not what was booked. Very rarely do I post negatively, everyone deserves the benefit of good intentions. However, the facts are clear when we both tripped on the pot holes and broken roadway because the breakfast and the tea and coffee were in the main house. Walking in the dark to and from the house on the uneven brick path to our 'room' in the back was just as bad. This was probably in the lowest ranking of any stay we have had. I am quite sad to say this because we had been looking forward to staying at the Inn.
The fact that they preserve this old Inn-style accommodation is great. The atmosphere and the feeling in the Inn is just remarkable. Clean and cozy. You don’t have to mind a bit squeaky doors and floors, though. But that’s just part of the charm!
Nothing
It was very cute and cozy! The staff was great!
This inn is simply perfect! We stayed on our way to Nashville and then back again several days later. Greeted by Sara, who is darling …we walked up a wide staircase to our room the Theodore Davidson. A queen bed extremely comfortable and a superb bathroom with large soaking tub( yes a step up) and robes. After a great night sleep a yummy breakfast of continental +++. Coffee, breads, bagels muffins, yoghurt great granola and juices. Perfect! Quiet, comfortable and extremely clean. Our return was the same room by choice. We have stayed at many other inns in this area over the years…but Beaufort is our number 1 choice for now. Also a simple but delicious dinner at Strada.
Sam was a great host. We enjoyed the grounds and the history of the home.
The room we stayed in had the toilet and shower in a small enclosed area. We had to step over the tile curb to get into it and the floor stayed wet all day after a shower.
The location is fantastic a quiet neighborhood but we could also walk to downtown. there are some cafes nearby. The house is amazing and super clean and Sarah received us greatly! I would always come back whenever visiting Asheville!
What a lovely inn with warm and accommodating people. The Arbor Room was inviting with a lovely fireplace and luxurious jetted tub. Breakfast and afternoon cookies were delicious and it was easy to leave in the morning after the plow came through. I walked to dinner which was also so nice. Highly recommend!!
The home was gorgeous. Check-in was easy and the person working was super friendly. He even helped us store a cake from the birthday party that had to be canceled.
The heat never shut off in the room and it was much, much warmer in our room than the rest of the home. We ended up opening the window a little bit to cool off but woke up in the middle of the night because it got too cold. It wasn't a big issue and we didn't want to be a hassle and contact the host after hours. But it also could have been a 'me' issue and we just didn't know how to turn it down/off.
The neighborhood was great, nice historic area for walking around. It was quiet. The staff person was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was simple but good. Charming old building.
Our room was very small and low-ceilinged, but we knew that from the photos. It was over-heated by a heat pump that kept running when turned down. Finally turned it off completely. Outdoor light shown into our room.
This was our second time staying in the Sarah Davidson Suite at the Beaufort House Inn. The staff is very friendly, the location is great, and the comfort of the home is nice.
The main reason we chose to come back because of the experience we had previously had at the Beaufort House, which included a gourmet breakfast every morning. I think it needs to mentioned that this is not a true Bed and Breakfast anymore, they only offer a continental breakfast with bagels, muffins, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. We were not made aware of this until after we checked in, so needless to say we were pretty bummed. We absolutely love the Beaufort House Inn, however if they do not bring back the wonderful breakfast you come to expect from a B & B we will probably have to look elsewhere during our next stay in Asheville.
It was wonderful. Beautiful home with a great location. Sara the innkeeper was great. She was personable and attentive
